An idea a day:
39. Create a "43things like" social networking website for diseased people.
Everyone say that 一公斤眼淚 is v. inspirational, as it is the chicken soup for your soul, give meaning to countless people, of course, encouraging people who are having the same disease.
The main fear for patients to uncure-able diseases, like cancer/ AIDS/ Brain problems etc, are not death, but the time and life they need to face after they are notified about the disease.
Of course, professional advices from doctors can help, but there is only one thing on earth can calm the discomfort: LOVE.
If we could bulid a online community of patients having the same disease, the website let them cheer up others when they are down, tell other about their own meaningful/ successful combat-disease stories, just like 亞也 in the drama, let them to make friend with people from all races, then it can re-create value/ give meaning for life to fight the up-hill battle.
The website can be just like 43things, users can pre-set their disease, then people can search the user database to find people having the same disease.
Every user can be provided with a blog, in the blog they can write their own stories, professional medicial advice from their country, update their combat progress, tell other about the stress, let themselves to release hatred.
It is a social network, you can find other user and leave comment to cheerup countless others.
Where have you been these day ar? Craving for your articles.
43things is funny, it has drawn 200,000 people in more than 82 countries and 22,000 unique goals — all without any marketing campaign, but it can't earn!
If the purpose is to contribute, then it is not a problem.
Actually, would your model be more like friendster/facebook? As they can let you explore others' network.
You know PCCW sucks! I can't connect to US sites, even using proxy like 188.8.131.52, from HK to US via United Arab Emirates!
Yes, the site would be something like that, but the purpose is to share disease problems, but not like making friends of pointless common interest.
Wether a website can earn or not it depends. May be the next M&A like youtube will be 43things!
What is 一公斤眼淚???
It is a japanese drama, about a girl with brain problems, and there is no remedy for the disease.
Life is struggle for her, but she fight a good battle and have a positive attitude towards life.
She write a dairy to keep track of her life, and people think the dairy is inspirational and it hips!
Hey, you are not from HK?
Yes, I am not.

I have install a search engine for Orangedays, I am amazed how effective it is. I have try to write a engine by myself, but all fail finally, so v. excited to know how easy to the script can be.

An idea a day:
38. Develop a wikipedia style database for solution to public exam questions
Not only students taking the exam can contribute, everyone who are interested in the field, like professionals, professors, lecturers, school teachers, ex-students can publish and post solution on this website.
Like wikipedia, it can provide the most up-to-date answers, for open end questions, it can provide mulitple answer to students for reference, as muliple users can post different answers to same question.
It can also provide reference website/ books for students as a related further study.
The number of public exam students may not be large enough to support this thing, especially in HK, as all are CD-ROMs. The idea can be applied in GCE (AS/A2) or SAT, as the exams are talking about a whole country.
The wiki-thing for students is good, if really established, it can really help, but have you consider the privacy problems?
As the exam questions are the intellientual property of respective exam authorities, if not paid, they won't allow you to publish those material over the net.
Would your idea just similar to an "online version" of those paper-back solution to HKCEE??
Are there any revenue model? Can it earn?
Ka, thanks for your comments.
Yes, a devil advocate is necessary for wild ideas, please leave critical comments in doubt area!!
About the privacy problems, HKEA sell exam papers, that means, if you pay the price, you will have the right to use the copy.
If I paid a certain copyright fee, to buy, say 10 copy of "virtual papers", allowing 10 registered, unique users to use the material, will it be alright?
In addition, HKEA should not be a $$ making authority, everyone in HK has the right for being educated. If the exam papers are expensive, but it is a nesscessity to students, it will discourage poor to get good result in exams.
By this arguement, this website is a fair database to all, who has the passion to get good result from their sweat, no matter rich or poor.
By releasing the information at a low price to this website can easily achieve this purpose.
Refer to your second question, yes you may regard this as the "online version" of paperback, but the author is by anoymous, or by all people.
The revenue model can be in many ways, the wiki-solution can be published in paper-back, just like the ordinary one.
The site can earn by advertisments, as the site is v. targeted, teen-related fashion company may interested.
If the website is similar to those "paper-back", it would be nice if you could partner with them.
If the idea exist, it will threaten the sale of "paper-back", if you could partner with them, let them provide the core of the solution, then let user to amend, correct or elaborate the answer, and the profit can be divided among you two, then a win-win situation.
Yes, you are right, partnership is the core of all business.
Your site is so funny and responsive.
Hope my comments can help to consolidate the ideas!
Disney has improved by adopting more effective PR approaches. But it's the first time I've known they assigned a PR person to be the "Disney Ambassador". Anyway, to revamp its poor image, a lot of work is still ahead.
PS: I also read an article on the moguls of game manufacturers. Sony's PS3 received rather poor reviews and feedback, and the stocks failed to meet market supply. Even worse, PS3 can't accommodate games of PS and PS2. On the other hand, Wii has more upbeat future. I quite agree with the "entertainment-focus" strategy.
well, Tim兄,sorry呀之前好忙無來留言,遲來的Happy Birthday!!!
I always have a thought to develop my own funny business, the reason is: I think I am a BAD employee!

tubetorial - Step by step veido tutorial for computer application teaching
An idea a day:
37. Making a site similiar to youtube/ tubetorial, for people to upload public exam material
In many famous tutorial school, they make use of recorded teaching video to maximize their profit. It is no point for students to go to the teaching centre to watch the video, just like no point in watching sitcom DVD outside your home.
People can record and upload tutorial from famous tutorial school (one season of teaching is enough, as those teachers keep repeating all those stuff),or produce their own teaching material by themselves. This site can provide a mean for student to study comfortably at home.
The site earn by ad fee, and uploader can earn by commission, based on click rate, view rate or ranking of importance.
The same idea can also apply to lectures from university, as almost every lecturer use the same pile of notes and teaching method, dated more than 20 years.
You said revenue of the website is from Ads, then who will pay the fee?
You surely have a v. concentrate target group, but who will actually pay for you?
You allow users to upload private version of video from famous tutor schools/ university lectures, will it be a proper business?
If someone have the TIME to produce their own material, will there be any gauge for releveness? Will there any team to check if the material have no mistake? As your targets are students, who dont have v. professional knowledge of judgement, wrong material will develop the first wrong impression and have strong but negative impact to them!
A classroom should be registered if it excess 15 students, this website is exposed to millions, will it need any lience or something? Is there any regulations from HKG?
Finally, you have many spelling mistakes!
For this website, teen-related companies, like Nike, Reebok may be interested to sponsor.
For the censor part, I understand what is bad teacher teach bad, but think of part-time tutoring by senior students/ your classmate, most of them are not up to standard, they are not one of those 10A, even dont have 1A, they go to teach others, but no one censor, the website is just a online version of that kind of business.
The website will give out commision in many different ways, eg, rating by others(like ebay powerseller), ranking of click rate, etc...
For other questions, I dont know the answer.

An idea a day:
36. Create a "birthday badge" for people to wear on birth-day.
It can make a clear indication to others, let your friend knows that today is your birthday.
It also v. funny to find out who have the same birthday with you by looking around other badges.
Happy Birthday! It's also a birthday of my younger sister...
All the best! ;p
I think your ideas are great!
Really fun to know someone having the same birthday with you.
I know four friends who are born at 12.24, all from different walk and have different life.
The following from Apple daily:
None of us have the above characteristics.

An idea a day:
35. For mini vans in HK, in stead of putting the speed panel within, put it outside.
In order to prevent speeding and avoid accendent, gov require nearly every mini van to acquire proper speed panel for travellers to watchout and a disturbing beep sound would be made when speeding.
This is surely not an effective way, why not make the panel outside, every drivers in the road would know their speed, of course the cops also know.

An idea a day:
33. Setup a website for bands/ individual to view if there are free time slots in pragrammes from several radio stations to play their music at a price.
It is almost a must for radio station to play songs, but most of the songs are given by CDs of record companies. If there are some progrmmes from several stations allow band/ individual to submit a record and pay for a time slot for the air time, it would add another revenue for radio stations, other than the CMs.
The website could allow user to view which stations provide which progrmmes have this features, and which time slot within the programme have the free air time for songs.

31. Develop a website like youtube, for user to upload essential sound effect recording for personal use.
The sound effect recording can be like: cinema, musical, thurder, ferry, airport, car horn/ conjection etc. People can phone others, at the same time play the sound they like, to mimic and make other believe they are at a specific place, other than their home!
One example: When you oversleep in the morning, you can phone your boss and tell him that you will be late, as you are in a desperate car conjestion, while you are talking, play the car horn in your computer, this will make your boss to believe your case!

29. For the sit-type toilet, create a petal at the floor near the toilet, if we press on it, the seat of the toilet will be raise, just like the kind of rubbish bin, if we press the petal, the top cover will raise.
This help people to raise the seat without any direct touch with it. For those "shower-like" old old man, as they usually involuntarily can not aim perfectly at the target, this product can encourage them to keep the toilet clean, especially for the public one, like those in office/ school.

Gifts.com Shop by personality, you can choose the catagory that your friend may be in, then gift.com will suggest some funny things to you. Think of the business model, it brillants.
There is always a cliche for people who wish to develop their own company: They want to develop a gift shop that sell tailor-made/ funny/ interesting things from japan/ US/ UK for birthday/ seasonal festivals. They all fail as they need not only source the funny things, but they also need to act as a distributor. In gifts.com, the model is simple, no need to sell anything, just make people click in the discription, then the source company will compete the sale, and gifts.com will earn ad fee.
點都好, 多d人留意你d得意ideas同正news, 係一件好事

An idea a day:
28. Create a website that is full of advertisement, may be like million dollar homepage/ pixellote, but all the ads fee will go to charity.
Charity always find it v. difficult for them to raise $$, may be they are confined in the traditional mind: No pain No gain, so they always raise fund by labour intensive, low efficiency way like flags/ tickets selling, especially recuiting the handicapped or v. old people to do this job, as a act to persuade people to donate. But I think this is a turture to them.
If the website exist and is popular, the ad fee will be hugh, since the setup fee is low, the administrative fee is virtually zero, no labour, no sweat and pain, and the most important is: surfer need not donate anything, the only thing needed is to click into it, then charity can gain!

An idea a day:
27. Design an ad that will show up when you are right clicking in browsing website.
You must have experience that some websites will block the right click, may be with a popup notice that say "right click is prohibited".
The reason why people need to right click is that, they want to copy and paste something, either a link or a paragraph. If this program will redirect the popup to your client website, it will help earning ad fee by click rate.
If your website provide v. useful content, in addition to the inefficient google adsense, right click ads will have a much more click rate for sure.
Hey, that's really nice blog. Great idea to gather the most interesting news clippings of the day and showcase your bright idea. I am about to see Paris Je t'aime. Wonderful to know the review.
Thx for your comment, if you have any opinions on the ideas, feel free to post comments.
Are you in the advertising field? I like reading Longyin review, they are really funny and interesting!

An idea a day:
26. Suggest District councilors in HK to develop strategic partnership with commodity distributors, like supermarket/ convienent stores etc, to issue coupons/ discount on their promotional flyers.
Every morning, when I walk down the street to go to work, I see some district councilors giving out black and white, boring flyers, saying what they are fighting for us, what they want to express, etc.
Although the councilors are v. actively and eagerly giving out the flyers, not many people, include me, seems interested and receive one. This happens, as there are no incentive for passerby to do so, but what if the flyers can give benefits to us?
I am sure no many people interested in nickel and dime, but I think it may be a way for councilors to attract C9's attention.

Alzheimer's store: selling household applications that is specially designed for patients of Alzheimer store. The design of some is really creative.
An idea a day (medic week):
24. Develop a website for comparison of features and prices of pills.
In HK, after you consult a doctor, you will be given some medicine, for better clinic, they will explain which pill is responsible for which ailments, for the worse, they only give you a pack of pills and on the cover, you will find the name of the pills.
For patients who are consious about their health, they would like to know what they are taking, if taken, will there be any side/bad effects, and for patients who are $$ conscious, they want to know the margin/cost of pills, thus what the doctors are earning. By knowing the price, people can choose doctor by calculating in their interest.
This website can let people to check the function of different pills, give the retail price of the pill, compare price for similar pills of the same function from different pharmaceutical companies.

An idea a day (medic week):
23. Develop a website controling phone/mobile phone, to remind people to take which pills at what time, in SMS / record voice format.
For chronic old patients, they may have several big packs of different pills, which is administored by doctor for a month or several, the pills may be of different effects and should be taken on time and at exact time. For old patients, they easily fall into one of the following: 1. Forget to take at all. 2. Eat the right pill at wrong time 3. Eat the wrong pill at wrong pill 4. Eat pills at wrong interval, eg. 3 dose within a hour for pills that should be eaten twice a day.
To prevent this from happening, doctors/ social worker/ patients' relative, can set the time and a discription of the color, size and shape of the pills on a website, then when time comes, recorded voice will play and notice the patients.
For v. busy and absent-minded patients, this can also be a useful application.
Tomorrow is my graduation day~

An idea a day (medi week):
22. Develop a website like Toeat.com, stating the exact the location of every clinics and hospitals, in addition, like Santa Monica Parking Lots, showing the waiting list number for patients.
When you are after school/ work/ fresh to your new house, touch wood, you sudden feel there is a need to consult doctor immediately, you do not care the doctor you see is fresh to you, but you really want to see doctor without any delay, then this website is perfect for you.
The website can also give additional information like fee, insurance policy, working hours, which doctor can you find in the clinics, etc.
This website can earn $$ by ad fee / doctor's listing fee, like prostitutes in sex141.com. The model of sex141.com is really interesting and can earn, set aside the moral things.

An idea a day:
21. To make a whirl mixers for medicines in hospitals/clinics, shred and mixed different medicines and make into one pills.
For old patients, they may be v. absent mind / with a little lack in hand control / have a tendancy to pick up and eat the wrong pills, may find it difficult to pick the correct pills from severals. If every time consult a doctor, patients will only get one type of pill, this will make patient more efficent and more easy to pick the correct one. Make a unique pills curing unqiue symtoms from patients.
Dont know why I often tumble over recently, this is the third times! It hurts!
